Doctor Dad®

This nationally recognized program was written by a Doctor to help prepare dad to care for their newborn. Created with non-custodial fathers in mind, Doctor Dad prepares new fathers to give practical care.

The DoctorDad® Workshop series was written and developed specifically for non custodial fathers who want to have a positive impact in their children’s lives. The Workshops are 60 to 90 minute sessions presented as one-to-one experiences or in small groups. Allowing ample time to focus on common health and safety issues, the workshops are vital for new and expectant dads. The four sessions increase fathers’ health literacy by equipping men with knowledge and skills they need to successfully care for very young children right from the start.

The session content is very practical and includes basic skills like how to calm a crying child, infant nutrition, how to take your child’s temperature, how to measure dosages of Tylenol, how to child proof your residence, etc. Men will learn how to keep children well and how to take care of a sick child. They learn how to prevent injuries and how to create a safe home environment. Each Workshop begins with a pre-test and ends with a post-test to provide immediate positive reinforcement. The Workshops are interactive, hands-on, and engaging.
